Mr. Aamodt is an experienced Professional Structural Engineer. He is a founding partner of Northland Consulting Engineers and is currently registered to practice engineering in the following states:

  • Minnesota
  • Wisconsin
  • Michigan
  • Montana
  • Kansas
  • Texas
  • Florida
  • New Mexico

He is also registered with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. This registration allow for prompt licensure to practice in most states in the United States.

He has been a practicing structural engineer in the consulting field since 1991. Mr. Aamodt has been the structural engineer of record for hundreds of projects large and small. He holds a Bachelors Degree of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1991. He is active in many civic, community and professional organizations including the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a charter member of the Structural Engineering Institute.

In 1997, Mr. Aamodt formed and became a principal partner in Northland Consulting Engineers. He is proud of the relationships and trust he has formed with his many clients. Those clients value Mr. Aamodt for his expertise and dependability to provide prompt, economical engineering solutions and service to their projects.

In 2009, Mr. Aamodt became Managing Partner of Northland Consulting Engineers. His role includes oversight and management of the partners and staff to ensure every project is completed with the highest standard of quality and professionalism.

 

JW CroppedJOHN R. WOODWORTH, P.E. – PRINCIPAL

Mr. Woodworth is an experienced Professional Engineer. He is a founding partner of Northland Consulting Engineers and is registered in the states of:

  • Iowa
  • North Dakota
  • South Dakota
  • Michigan

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1977, and a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering in 1978, both from Iowa State University. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a Past President of its Duluth Section, and is a member of the Executive Committee for the ASCE Technical Council on Cold Regions Engineering. He is also a member of the Duluth Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Woodworth has practiced structural engineering for over thirty years in northeastern Minnesota. During that time he was involved with design and construction document preparation of industrial, commercial, transportation and waterfront related projects. For the past twenty years he has concentrated on structural, building envelope and construction-related forensic investigations and evaluations as required by insurance companies, attorneys, real estate professionals, government agencies and property owners. His work carries him to all the states in which he’s registered.

As an extension of his work with the insurance industry, Mr. Woodworth serves as an umpire or appraiser on appraisal boards for insurance claim settlement. He also serves as an expert in court testimony.

 

Mark Udd, P.E. – Partner – Structural Project Engineermark cropped

Mr. Udd is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of Minnesota in 1993. He is active in many community and professional organizations including the American Society of Civil Engineers.

From 1993 to 1997 Mr. Udd was employed as a civil engineer with a geotechnical engineering firm in Wisconsin. During that time he concentrated his activities in the areas of soil and foundation engineering for commercial, institutional and industrial projects.

Mr. Udd joined Northland Consulting Engineers LLP in 1997. He has since concentrated his activities in the area of structural engineering design, and forensic structural engineering for architectural clients and property owners. His clients find him easily approachable and they appreciate the dependable and timely solutions he delivers.

 

Tom Rines, PE, SE – Partner – Structural Project EngineerTom Cropped

Mr. Rines has 15+ years of engineering experience in hotel, residential, commercial and public assembly development, as well as 8 years of carpentry experience involving estimating, job costing, and scheduling.
He has specific experience with concrete, steel, heavy timber, wood and
metal-framed buildings and structures.

Tom has experience managing projects that include: Oqyana World First Hotel, Dubai – where the water villas are supported on floating concrete platforms: Montage Deer Valley, Utah – whose mountain hillside location required addressing permanent lateral earth pressures from the sloped hillsides with internal shearwalls and enlarged footings. The design also accommodated the building’s functional stack with staggered trusses: The Lodge at Suncadia – this six-story luxury mountain resort complex includes condominiums, hotel, meeting, public, amenity and below-grade parking.

Rines holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington. A licensed engineer in Washington, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin, he is a member of Engineers without Borders and American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). Tom is known for a pragmatic and creative approach to design, asking hard questions and thought-provoking “what-if” scenarios that lead to optimized designs.

 

 

David Bolf, P.E. – Partner – Civil Project Engineerdavid cropped

Mr. Bolf leads our Civil Department. He brings 17 years of professional experience on a wide array of civil projects, with both the public and private sector. He will work with new and existing clients to provide
design solutions to meet specific project goals.

David previously served as project manager overseeing complex, multi-agency projects with budget constraints and aggressive schedules. David’s emphasis has been in municipal engineering. He specializes in public utility design, roadway design, storm water management plans, project and construction administration and planning. He is known for his ability to deliver state and federal aid plans promptly and within budget.

David holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University. He is a licensed professional engineer in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota and is a member of Duluth Chapter of ASCE. David is well known in the Duluth area for his commitment to his clients and respected by his peers.
